Swapnil was a portfolio manager for India strategy at Engineers Gate (a US-headquartered Global Quant Hedge Fund) during October 2015 and May 2019.
He later acquired the India business of Engineers Gate through a management buy-out and formed ASQI Advisors to create an asset management business fo
cused on absolute returns in Asian markets.
He is a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2002) and post-graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (2004).
Swapnil has an experience of over 15 years, spread across quantitative strategies, alternate assets, fund-raising and business building.
In his earlier work during 2010-15, he set up and headed the proprietary quant trading group at a large Indian brokerage. He also set up the group’s structured products desk and alternate asset management business, managing AUM of ~Rs. 750 Cr (~$100mm).
In 2006, he co-founded PARK Financial Advisors, an investment advisory boutique, which was acquired by the large Indian brokerage in 2009.
Earlier, Swapnil worked with The Boston Consulting Group advising clients across Engineering, Technology and Banking sectors.
Swapnil has been recognized as one of ‘40 under 40’ professionals in Alternate Investment space in India.
He has also authored a book, titled ‘Anatomy of Froth – Demystifying the Global Financial Crisis’ (2010) besides several papers and articles in the media.
